Indication:
For the treatment of acute bacterial sinusitis, community-required pneumonia, uncomplicated skin structure infections, complicated urinary tract infections, chronic bacterial prostatitis
Dosage & Administration:
Usual Adult Dose: orally, 500mg once every 24 hours
Contraindication:
Hypersensitivity to levofloxacin, other quinolones or to any component of the product.
Warnings and Precautions:
Floroquinolones, including levofloxacin, are associated with an increased risk of tendinitid and tendon rupture in all ages. This risk is further increased in older patients usually over 60years of age, in patients taking cortocosteroid drugs, and in patients with kidney, heart or lung transplants. Floroquinolones, including levofloxacin, may exacerbate muscle weakness in persons with myasthenia gravis. Avoid levofloxacin in patients with known history of myasthenia gravis.
Undesirable Effects:
Common: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, headache, insomnia, and dizziness
Interaction w/ other medicaments:
Antacids, anti-arrythmic drugs, antidepressants, antidiabetic drugs, ciclosporin and tacrolimus, corticosteroids, digoxin, fluconazole, NSAIDs, Probenecid and Cimetididne, Theophylline, Warfarin, Zidovudine
